CASE STUDY.
Digital Nest Donation Plugin
PROJECT OVERVIEW
During my internship with Digital Nest, I collaborated with another intern to design a donation plugin. Our task was to create three variations based on Digital Nest’s requirements within a tight deadline of two days. One of our designs was selected for development, and this plugin is poised to potentially save Digital Nest up to $100,000 annually by replacing their original plugin, which took a large percentage from received donations. The project was developed using PHP as a WordPress plugin.
OBJECTIVES
1. Design a Donation Plugin: Create a visually appealing and functional donation form to replace Digital Nest’s existing plugin.
2. Meet Organizational Requirements: Ensure the design aligns with Digital Nest’s branding and operational needs with the preferential use of the color Orange.
3. Provide Design Options: Develop multiple design variations to give Digital Nest flexibility in choosing the best option.

CHALLENGES
Tight Timeline: Completing three different design variations in just two days required efficient time management and rapid iteration.
Brand Consistency: Ensuring that all design variations adhered to Digital Nest’s branding guidelines and provided a consistent user experience.
Effective Communication: Coordinating with the other intern and the development team to ensure smooth transition from design to implementation.

SOLUTIONS.
EFFICIENT USE OF FIGMA
Leveraging Figma’s collaborative features allowed us to work quickly and efficiently, producing high-quality designs within the tight deadline.
FOCUS ON BRANDING
By prioritizing Digital Nest’s branding guidelines, we ensured that all design variations were visually cohesive and aligned with the organization’s identity.
CLOSE COLLABORATION
Maintaining open lines of communication with the development team ensured that the design was implemented as intended and met all technical specifications.
VARIATION DEVELOPMENT
Together with another intern, I created three distinct design variations within a two-day period, ensuring a range of choices for the organization.
CONCLUSION.
Designing the donation plugin for Digital Nest was a significant achievement during my internship. I successfully created three design variations within a tight deadline, and one of my designs was chosen for development. This plugin will not only enhance the user experience but also potentially save Digital Nest up to $100,000 annually by eliminating the percentage of fees the previous donation plugin would take from incoming donations. My design work played a crucial role in the development and implementation of a cost-saving solution for the organization. This project highlights my ability to design effective and impactful solutions under tight deadlines and contribute to significant initiatives that benefit the organization.
